Rick Rule’s Wisdom: Lessons on Patience, Discovery, and Junior Mining Strategies
“When I was a young man with a lot of time left on Earth, ironically, I was very impatient. But now, as I age and have less time on Earth, I’ve developed much more patience.”
Rick Rule, just a legend
Patience is a virtue in resource investing, but it must be balanced with clarity about when to cut losses to avoid endless “bag-holding.”
Track record and credibility distinguish true company builders from promotional CEOs, making past success a key factor in investment decisions.
Drill plays are high-risk propositions that require careful assessment of whether a single failure will collapse the story or if the company has other viable targets.
Investing after a discovery is confirmed, even at higher prices, can still yield significant returns by reducing risk and increasing certainty.
Royalty companies offer alternative strategies for participating in discoveries while mitigating risk.

“Williams will be our focus. We need to hit a home run early in the season to build momentum and raise funds for further exploration.”
Dustin Perry, CEO Kingfisher Metals (TSX-V: KFR)
Flagship Target Potential: Kingfisher Metals’ Williams target is described as one of the best porphyry drill targets in CEO Dustin Perry’s career, with historical high-grade copper-gold intervals and extensive supporting geophysical data.
Telescoping Advantage: The project’s porphyry-epithermal telescoping model suggests shallow mineralization, which could reduce drilling costs while retaining the potential for significant grades.
Disciplined Exploration Strategy: The company is focusing initial drilling on high-confidence targets like Williams, aiming for a major discovery to drive share price and fund further exploration.
Strong Community Engagement: Kingfisher prioritizes relationships with the Tahltan First Nation by employing local contractors, adhering to permitting requirements, and ensuring cultural and environmental sensitivity.
Commitment to Shareholder Value: Perry emphasized avoiding joint ventures to retain upside, balancing funding needs with minimal dilution, and aiming to position the company as a standout explorer in the Golden Triangle.
Ronnie Stoeferle, Willem Middelkoop, Peter Krauth, Luc ten Have, and 9 Juniors
At the Swiss Mining Institute conference this week, I asked Ronnie Stoeferlee, Willem Middelkoop, Luc ten Have, and Peter Krauth what's really going on with junior mining stocks these days.
In addition, I spoke to 9 junior mining companies to better understand their objectives for visiting conferences and whether they get their money's worth.
We also talked about the sentiment in the gold and silver mining and junior mining stocks.
More specifically, the following companies were featured in this video:
Founders Metals (TSX-V: FDR) with Colin Padget
Gold Terra Resource (TSX-V: YGT) with Gerald Panneton
Awalé Resources (TSX-V: ARIC) with Andrew Chubb & Andrew Smith
Prismo Metals (CSE: PRIZ) with Alain Lambert
Rua Gold (TSX-V: RUA) with Robert Eckford
Dryden Gold (TSX-V: DRY) with Trey Wasser
Li-FT Power (TSX-V: LIFT) with Francis MacDonald

Asking Swiss People: Do They Invest in Gold & Silver
Do Swiss people invest in gold & silver? I went on the streets of Zurich to find out.
Switzerland has long been synonymous with wealth, precision, and of course, gold.
In the third quarter of 2024 alone, the Swiss National Bank reported a remarkable $6.5 billion profit, with $5 billion of that coming from the rising value of its extensive gold reserves—over 1,000 tonnes, placing Switzerland firmly among the top global gold holders.
This affinity for gold extends beyond the bank’s vaults. Around 70% of the world’s gold is refined in Switzerland, a statistic that underscores the country’s central role in the global gold trade.
In 2023, Switzerland exported nearly $100 billion worth of gold, making it one of the nation’s leading exports.
Even beyond its economic impact, gold holds a cultural significance here: a 2019 survey revealed that Switzerland ranks second globally in per capita gold demand, with nearly half the population viewing gold as a preferred investment.
In this video, in one of the world’s most expensive cities, I spoke with Zurich’s residents to uncover their thoughts on gold, silver, and mining in the modern era. Do they still see it as a timeless store of value? Would they consider investing not only in gold itself but in the companies responsible for mining it?
